ABOUT TILE KILN CHURCH

We are a group of Christians who live to worship and glorify Jesus Christ as Lord, Saviour and King. He’s the reason we live, and we’d love to tell you more about him – get in touch!

We gather each Sunday to worship Jesus Christ, grow in our understanding of his love, grace, and forgiveness, and to enjoy friendship with each other. We scatter across Chelmsford for the rest of the week in order to live for Jesus Christ across every day and in every situation we find ourselves in.

We're so glad you’ve found our website – please take a look around, and if you’d like to ask anything or get in touch - email us at information@tilekilnchurch.org.uk

What We Believe

God
God is the one true Creator of all that is – seen and unseen. God lives eternally in three persons — the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He has spoken to us through his Son, Jesus Christ, and through the Bible. He is the Saviour and Judge who sustains and governs all things according to his sovereign will and for his glory.

Jesus Christ
The eternal Son came into the world in the person of Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin. This Jesus died on the cross in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating Satan and all evil, so that we can be forgiven and reconciled with God. Jesus did not stay dead, but physically rose from the dead, giving us new life and ensuring our future bodily resurrection. He returned to the Father, and reigns as the only Saviour of the world.

Holy Spirit
That God the Holy Spirit brings us to the point of faith, unites us to Christ, and enables us to live as God requires, as detailed in the Bible. The Holy Spirit lives in believers, bringing assurance of salvation, giving gifts to his people, the church, and so empowering God’s people for worship, service, and mission.

Humanity
All people are created by God, in His image, male and female. Therefore, all women and men are inherently worthy of dignity. Humans are created to love and worship God, be holy, and steward creation.

Sin
All people are corrupted by sin and naturally hostile toward God, rebels against the true Creator and King of the whole cosmos. Sin separates us from God and brings us under God’s just and right judgement. All people therefore need to be born again, forgiven, and reconciled to God.

Salvation
Sinful people are put right with God by the grace of God through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. It is in Jesus Christ we receive forgiveness for sin. Salvation is brought about by the Holy Spirit, is by grace alone, and not by anything that a person can do themselves. Salvation is entirely a work of God and cannot be earned or deserved.

Bible
God has given us the Bible, which is entirely trustworthy, and which constitutes our supreme authority in matters of belief and conduct. God has revealed himself in the Bible, Old and New Testaments, as the Bible gives testimony to the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Church
When we put our trust in Jesus Christ, we are united to him and become part of his Church, both local and universal. We are given gifts by the Holy Spirit enabling us to worship God, share the good news of Jesus, and promote justice and love. The visible expression of church in local congregations around the world are committed to worshipping Jesus Christ, preaching the Bible, sharing in communion, and baptising new believers. Christians are called to unity in the gospel of Jesus Christ as part of the witness to the truth of God in the world.

Future
Jesus Christ will return, physically and in glory, to fulfil the purposes of God by establishing the new heaven and new earth. He will bring all people to judgement and give eternal, physical, resurrection life to those who believe in Christ Jesus.

Tile Kiln Church is an independent evangelical church, meaning that we believe in the historic Christian faith expressed in the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance, and hold to their statement of faith, which you can find here. We hold to the orthodox and historical teaching of the Christian Church regarding human sexuality. For more information, please contact us through the form on this website.
